The Society offers affordable self care rental housing for older people, aged 70 and over, at:
- Mirrabooka Village, Little Bay
- William Charlton Village, Allambie
Each village has self contained units and a village manager who can help residents arrange community care services such as Home Care or meals on wheels, if they become necessary. Residents have use of laundry facilities and an after hours emergency buzzer system.
Residents pay fortnightly rent which is set at a fixed proportion of the age or veterans pension and rent assistance. Currently (as at Sept 2009), the rent for a single person in a bedsit is $248.75 per fortnight. If residents have assets they may also be asked to pay an ingoing contribution, most of which is refunded when they leave. Priority is given to people in insecure housing who have connections with the local area.
